Jerome Richmond, Illinois' top high school basketball player in 2010, has been released from jail after being arrested for probation violations, officials say. Richmond, 20, was freed Monday from the Lake County jail on a $50,000 recognizance bond on condition he only left home to get treatment for domestic violence and substance abuse, the Chicago Tribune reported. He was jailed Thursday after police said he violated terms of his probation on charges including failing a drug test, violating curfew and missing a domestic violence orientation. Richmond pleaded guilty to an August 2011 incident in which he was accused of hitting an ex-girlfriend and threatening her parents with a gun. He played for the University of Illinois basketball team for one season in 2010 before leaving in an unsuccessful attempt to join the NBA.
