Eurocon Alubond rode on a fine all-round performance by Nasir Aziz to beat Farooq CC by 84 runs in the 38th Bukhatir League ‘A’ Division Tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, at the Sharjah stadium on Wednesday night. Aziz scored 44 off 57 balls with six fours and one six and followed it up with a three-wicket haul for 17 runs to help his side script a comfortable win. Eurocon Alubond, batting first after winning the toss, scored a competitive 232 for nine in the allotted 50 overs. Waqas Alvi top-scored with an unbeaten 45 off 60 balls while Sarif Asadullah (39 not out) and Samiullah (37) also made useful contributions to the total. Adil Reyan was the pick of the Farooq CC bowlers, taking four wickets for 45 runs. Qasim Zubair and Salman Farooq also chipped in with two wickets each. Farooq CC, in reply, were bowled out for 148 in 35 overs with Nasir Aziz and Mohammed Azam (two for 22) doing most of the damage. Nabil Iqbal (38), Abdullah Hanif (24) and Qais Farooq (20) were among the runs, but their contributions were not good enough to match pace with the asking rate.
