In the presence of 49 students and many parents, the representatives of Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA), the oldest partner of the FIFA/CIES International University Network, closed the 9th edition of the FIFA/CIES Programme organised in Argentina on 3 December. During the evening ceremony, all the speakers emphasised the success of a project launched in 2004, at a time when no-one knew whether it would stand the test of time: “Almost a decade after we entered into our partnership, we have every reason to rejoice. The UCA/FIFA/CIES Programme has become a reference in Argentina and even beyond, as shown by the participation of many students from other countries in Latin America”, declared Dr José Claría, the Programme Director, before adding: “The diversity of student profiles is also remarkable. We bring together top athletes, club managers, professionals who wish to develop their activities in the world of sport, young students but also people who already have significant experience in management of sports organisations and the difficulties involved.” Dr Daniel Herrera, Dean of the UCA Law Faculty, insisted on the need for education in a world that is constantly changing and volatile: “The Programme that we organise with CIES undeniably caters to a need. We cannot ensure the sustainability of sports organisations and of their important social dimension without training managers who are clear-minded, efficient and aware of their responsibilities”. During the ceremony, UCA also announced the names of the students who had achieved the best group work in 2012. The winners were Leonardo Alberto and Carlos Eduardo Terán Neumane for their project entitled: “Observatory of physical activities in the elderly population”. CIES warmly thanks the organisers and coordinators of the Programme in Argentina and extends its best wishes for success to the new graduates: Leonardo, Martín, Felipe, Francisco Miguel, Pablo, Brian , Magdalena, Jessica Mariela, Alejandro, Federico, Pablo Ignacio, María Ana, Tiago Fernando, Horacio, Leandro Nicolás, Marisa del Valle, Gerardo Adrián, John Esneider, Cristian Andrés, Pablo, Gustavo, Martín, Eric, Lara, María Julia, Martín Nicolás, María Florencia, Mario Alberto, Francisco Javier, Francisco, Patricio Raúl, Carlos Andrés, Leonardo, Sebastián, Tiago, Cristian Camilo, Emilio Cesar, Nora Lilian, Gonzalo Leandro, Leonardo Daniel, Gianluc, Lucas, Jorgelina, Claudio Helio, Carlos Eduardo, José Tomá, Ubaldo Gabriel and Eric Leonardo.
