Roberto Carlos officially announced his retirement from playing last week, bringing the curtain down on a remarkable career. In over a decade at Real Madrid, the diminutive left-wingback won La Liga four times and the UEFA Champions League three, while he earned 125 caps for Brazil and got his hands on the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy in 2002. And while Roberto Carlos helped bring joy to fans’ faces with those successes, and through his vicious, swerving free-kicks, he was also renowned for bringing smiles to team-mates on the training ground – as the above photo illustrates!
