FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter has written to the Football Association of Malaysia to express his sadness at the death of former AFC President and FIFA vice-president Tan Sri Hamzah Abu Samah. Describing him as “a man of extraordinary talent,” Tan Sri Dato Hamzah enjoyed a career as a politician, lawyer, businessman and sports administrator. He was also an IOC member for well over two decades, serving the Olympic movement in a number of capacities which earned him IOC honorary membership in 2004. Fourteen years later, Tan Sri Dato Hamzah was named as a FIFA Honorary Member and upon learning of his death, the FIFA President paid this tribute “On behalf of the members of the international football family who had the pleasure of knowing him, I should be extremely grateful if you could extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of Tan Sri Dato Hamzah, as well as to all the members of the Asian Football Confederation. “We would hope that in some way, our words of support may help bring a little bit of peace and solace in this time of sadness.” From : Fifa
