
Secretary General departs New York later today for a visit to Nanjing, China, where he will attend on Saturday the opening ceremony of the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games, his spokesman Stephane Dujarric told the daily press briefing.
While in Nanjing, Ban will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and with International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach.
Ban is also scheduled to hold a discussion with young people on their key role in promoting development, and will also take part in a live discussion on social media about the potential of young people, the power of sport and the importance of addressing climate change, Dujarric said.
