
Champions who took part in the 19th Africa senior championships, held in Marrakech August 10-14, made records in various competitions.
Isaac Makwala, Butswana, won the 400-m running competition (44.23 seconds). Second came Ade Van Niekerk, South Africa (45 seconds).
In hammer throw competitions, the Egyptian Mohammad Hisham Mustafa came first (79.09 m).
In pole vault, Rahmi Cheyni, South Africa, won the gold medal. South African javelin thrower Sunette Viljoen grabbed the gold in the females category of javelin contests.
In triple jump, Maquina Kotso of South African bagged the gold. The Nigerian champion, Akins Tyron, won the 110-m hurdles competition.
These games were held in preparation for the next intercontinental cup which, planned September 13-14, 2014, in Marrakech.
The 18th edition of this competition was held from June 28 to July 1st, 2012, in Porto Novo, Benin.
