5 years, 5 million members

2012 marked the five-year anniversary of the FIFA.com Club. Over the past few years, we have witnessed the incredible transformation from a few thousands footballs fans to a passionate and dynamic community of over 5 million members! We took a moment to reflect on five years of community, contests and conversation on FIFA.com. Your voice since 2007 When the FIFA.com Club launched in 2007, we immediately set about providing members with the ability to comment on FIFA.com articles and engage in football conversations with fans from all over the world. Since then we have continued to create and develop community features for our members, connecting 5.7 million members in over 200 countries in the process! We have had enjoyed so many great community-related moments in our short history. Here are some of our favourites: Community milestones June 2007 The new Club is launched. January 2008 YOU decided on the Goal of the Year and Team of the Year! February 2009 The Club welcomed its one-millionth member. May 2009 Shukry became the first club member to submit 500 comments! Read our interview with Shukry. November 2009 We rolled out tons of new features in the Club house including a friend finder, avatars, friend messaging and more. August 2010 The Club Twitter account (@FIFAcomclub) went live. 2011 The Club reached 5.5 million members in over 200 countries! December 2011 YOU decided the winner of the first ever FIFA PUSKAS Award. February 2012 Fans from all over the world shared their personal football stories on FIFA.com for a chance to win a Kia Sportage! September 2012 2.5 million comments were submitted by Club members on FIFA.com! FIFA Games In September 2007, the Club launched the first ever FIFA Predictor game. Since then, every season, we have challenged club members to test their football predicting skills. What are they all playing for? Signed shirts, trips to FIFA events and, perhaps most importantly, incredible trips to the FIFA World Cup™! The latest version of FIFA Predictor launched recently. In the new, dynamic version, gamers can make match predictions on a daily basis. If there is a professional football game taking place out there, you can bet that we’re going to give you a chance to predict on it! Our monthly FIFA Trivia game has been running since 2009. To date, almost 1 million gamers have signed up for the FIFA World Trivia game. Get ready to take your Quiz skills to the next level because this October we are bringing you a brand new FIFA Trivia game packed with hundreds of new questions, not to mention incredible monthly and overall prizes! Our FIFA World Cup games have always been a big hit with predictors, trivia players and fantasy managers. And of course, who can forget the online Panini sticker craze for South Africa 2010? Over 1.5 million people got swept up in the excitement of collecting virtual football stickers for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. Just ask Club member Euggue. As we get closer to the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2014 FIFA World Cup, you can expect even more fantastic World Cup related games on FIFA.com! So many contests, so many prizes We’ve given away thousands of prizes in the past five years including hundreds of jerseys signed by football stars past and present. We sent 30 club members and their partners to the 2010 FIFA World Cup. 62 members won priceless kick off balls from South Africa 2010. One lucky member even got to hand out a Budweiser Man of the Match trophy on the field at Soccer City in Johannesburg. We’ve sent winners to the FIFA World Player Gala in Zurich (now known as the FIFA Ballon d’Or), to the Great Wall in China, to the Santiago Bernabéu to train with Ronaldo, to Barcelona for the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2010 Grand Final, to the opening match of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011… the list goes on! In fact, so many Club members have won prizes on FIFA.com that we decided to build a Club winners’ gallery just for them. Twitter contests, trivia contests, football quizzes, creative submissions, we’ve offered members the ability to express themselves and potentially earn massive prizes in the process. We’ve given members cars, trips to FIFA events, priceless signed jerseys and more! And there’s no slowing down now as we prepare for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The future 2013 will usher in the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil and then it’s on to the 2014 FIFA World Cup! As we build up to the greatest sporting event on earth, we plan to deliver Club members more football games, contests and prizes than ever before!
