An expert on Israeli settlement issues Khalil Al-Tufkaji that the recent announcement of the Israeli occupation on the approval of the construction of hundreds of settlement units in the east of the occupied city of Jerusalem is part of the program and schemes already placed and wait for approval and amendment of Israel's competent authorities. And these operations are in accordance with the mood of the international, regional and domestic political situation.

These Israeli decisions to expand existing settlements aims to consolidate the annexation of East Jerusalem, Al-Tufkaji said in an exclusive interview to Arabs Today. He pointed out that all plans come as part of the rationale strategic, which aims to build 56 thousand housing units in within the 2020 scheme.

He explained that the annexation of "Ma'aleh Adumim" will result in the separation of the north West Bank from the south, and the achievement of the Israeli vision to establish a greater Jerusalem, because it represents 10% of the West Bank. This would lead to the application of the settlement scheme "E1", where it is the only remaining area of the Palestinians to establish their own state, with its capital in East Jerusalem, Al-Tufkaji added.

Surrounding villages, will be isolated by the separation barrier exists in that region, and connect them with the city of Bethlehem, Al-Tufkaji stated.

Al-Tufkaji confirmed that the annexation of the settlement of "Maale Adumim" is the first step in the strategic settlement enterprise "5800" of 2050, which provides for the establishment of an industrial zone and tourist areas, and the largest airport in Israel, within   settlement bloc of "Ma'aleh Adumim".
