London - UPI
The horse Deputed Testimony, winner of the 1983 Preakness Stakes and the oldest living winner of a Triple Crown race, died Tuesday. The horse was 32. Deputed Testimony had lived out his post-racing days in rural Maryland and died at Bonita Farms, a stable in Darlington, Md., The Baltimore Sun reported. Considered a long shot in the race, Deputed Testimony went off at 14-to-one odds, but navigated a muddy track on a rainy day at Pimlico and won the Prekness by a head. He would go on to win 11 more times in his 20-race career, earning his owners the Bonifice family more than $600,000 in purses.
