Yangon's first-ever International Marathon will be held in January next year and is expected to draw more than 1000 foreign and local racers, official media reported Friday. Sponsored by Yoma Strategic Holdings Ltd, the competition, which is slated for Jan. 27, will include 42 kilometer Marathon, 10-kilometer Challenge and 3-kilometer Fun Run, said the New Light of Myanmar. The races will begin and end at the People's Park near one of Yangon's most iconic and picturesque landmarks, the Shwedagon Pagoda. The box-office from the event will be donated to philanthropic schools, charity clinics and schools for the blind.
