Gulf champion Mohammad Al Gareeb and Peter Wessels scored victories to secure their places in the semi-finals of the men's singles at the Shaikh Zayed Cup. Al Gareeb secured a 6-1, 6-4 win over Iranian expatriate Amrivala Madanchi while Wessels, formerly ranked No 72 on the ATP Tour, had an easy 6-1, 6-0 win over UAE Davis Cup player Hamad Al Janahi at Le Meridien Al Aqah Fujairah. In the lower half of the draw, the UAE's Omar Beh-roozian — the losing finalist last year — coasted to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Briton Gregory Howe to set up a last four meeting with Saudi Arabia's Fahad Al Saad, a 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 winner against Oman's Mohammad Al Nabhani. In the men's doubles, brothers Mohammad and Khalid Al Nabhani will meet Al Gareeb and Al Sa'ad in the final.
