Venus Williams upset No. 1 seed Roberta Vinci Friday to advance to the semifinals at the BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open tennis tournament. Williams beat Vinci 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 to set up a match with Andrea Petkovic in Saturday's semifinals. Petkovic defeated Ksenia Pervak 6-3, 6-2 Friday. Daniela Hantuchova eliminated Lourdes Dominguez Lino 7-5, 6-0 Friday to advance to the semifinals against Monica Niculescu, who was a 6-0,-6-4 winner Friday over Lucie Hradecka.
