
The USA dominated the afternoon singles matches to seize an 8-4 lead over Great Britain and Ireland at the 44th Walker Cup tournament. GB&I won the foursomes matches 2 1/2-1 1/2, but the Americans breezed through the singles contests 6 1/2-1 1/2 on Saturday to take a commanding lead heading into Sunday at the National Golf Links of America. The USA captured six of the eight singles matches and halved another, marking their best performance in a Walker Cup singles session since 1997. Max Homa helped lead the way for the Americans with a 5 and 3 rout of Max Orrin while Michael Weaver posted 3 and 1 victory over Matthew Fitzpatrick and Michael Kim beat Callum Shinkwin 2 and 1.
