A win over their Polish rivals Sunday earned Turkey's women's volleyball team the ticket to the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, making them the first Turkish squad ever to qualify to compete in any team event in the Olympics in 52 years. Sunday's game in the European Qualification Tournament in Ankara saw a 3-0 victory over Poland and it was the fourth straight one in a series of wins for "the sultans of the net." Turkey wrapped up the pool stage undefeated and lost only one set in games against Bulgaria, Croatia and Germany, and they made Russia suffer a 3-1 loss at the semi-finals. Turkey previously competed in olympic football six times and in basketball twice but never in volleyball.
