Top seed Victoria Azarenka of Belarus failed to reach the quarterfinals of 2012 French Open after being upset by Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia in straight sets 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) here on Sunday. The 15th-seeded Cibulkova found her form quickly as the 23-year-old claimed the opening set 6-2 under cold and windy conditions. The top seed struggled to get back on track in the second set with a 2-0 lead, but Cibulkova snatched four games in a row to overtake the advantage. Though Azarenka fought hard to draw the set at 4-4 and 6-6, the Belarusian lost the tie-breaker 4-7 to concede the match. Cibulkova will next face the winner between Australian 6th seed Samantha Stosur and Sloane Stephens of the United States in the quarterfinals.
