England off-spinner Graeme Swann has returned home from the tour of India in order to spend time with his ill baby daughter, the England and Wales Cricket Board said in a statement issued on Wednesday. However, the ECB said the 33-year-old Swann would be back in India in time for the start of a four-Test series in Ahmedabad next week. "Graeme Swann has returned home to support his family and spend time with his daughter who is currently unwell," the ECB statement said. "Swann will return to India ahead of the first Test in Ahmedabad, commencing November 15. "This is a personal matter and we would ask for everyone to give Graeme and his family privacy. We will not be making any further comment at this time." Swann's absence mean England will go into their final four-day warm-up match against Haryana in Ahmedabad starting Thursday without their senior spinner. England fast bowlers Steven Finn (thigh strain) and Stuart Broad (bruised heel) could also miss the game as a result of injuries suffered earlier on tour.
