Russia set a new world record in the men's 4x50m medley relay in the first event of the second day of the World Short-Course Swimming Championships in Doha.
A blistering freestyle leg of 20.62secs by Evgeny Sedov brought the Russian quartet home in 1:32.78 to cut 0.87secs off the mark set by Italy at last year's European Short-Course Championships in Herning, Denmark.
It is the fourth world record of the meet after Mireia Belmonte's pioneering efforts in the 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley which was followed by the efforts of the Netherlands women's 4x200m freestyle relay in the final event of the first day.
