Texas Rangers pitcher Neftali Feliz has been shelved with right elbow inflammation, the team said Monday. Feliz was placed on the 15-day disabled after compiling a 3-1 record with a 3.16 ERA in eight games, including seven starts, for Texas this season. Feliz was moved from the closer's role he played on the Rangers' two American League Championship teams of 2010 and 2011 to a spot in the starting rotation. The hurler felt tightness in his shoulder during spring training but recovered in time to make his first career start last month. The Rangers recalled 36-year-old pitcher Yoshinori Tateyama from Class AAA Round Rock to take his spot on the roster. Tateyama went 2-0 with a 4.50 ERA in 39 relief outings last season for Texas.
