Four second-round matches, including one involving third-seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues, were rained out Thursday at the Sony Swedish Open. Medina Garrigues was up 3-1 on Johanna Larsson and Mathilde Johansson had a 1-0 lead on Shahar Peer when play was called. Two other matches didn't even begin. The suspended matches and second-rounders between sixth-seeded Klara Zakopalova and Marina Duque-Marino and another with Arantxa Rus playing Sofia Arvidsson are set for early Friday play. The winners will move into the quarterfinals, which are also due to be completed Friday. The Peer-Johansson winner advances to the quarters against fifth-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. The Medina-Garrigues Larsson survivor goes against the winner of the Duque-Marina-Zakopalova match. Also seventh-seeded Mona Barthel awaits either Rus or Arvidsson. The fourth quarterfinal has Tsvetana Pironkova meeting Polona Hercog.
