Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell, free to compete again pending the outcome of an appeal against his 18-month doping ban, will race the 100m at the Diamond League meet in Paris on July 5, organisers said Monday.
Powell and training partner Sherone Simpson tested positive for banned stimulant oxilofrine after the 100m finals at the Jamaican nationals on June 21, 2013.
Powell, who blamed his positive result on a nutritional supplement, was banned until December 28, 2014, by the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission Disciplinary Panel.
But the former world record holder had his appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld, freeing him to compete up until the next meeting of CAS on July 7-8.
Before that, Powell is also set to compete in the Jamaican national championships between June 26-29 in Kingston.
