Washington - Upi

Corey Pavin, in his third year on the Champions Tour and looking for his first win, shot an 8-under 64 Friday to take the lead at the Allianz Championship. Pavin birdied six holes in a seven-hole stretch on the back nine of The Old Course at Broken Sound Club in Boca Raton, Fla., putting him two shots in front of former champion Bernhard Langer, Peter Senior and Fred Funk. Langer hopes to return to the form that made him the hottest player on the Champions Tour in 2010. He missed much of the 2011 season following wrist surgery. Mark Brooks, Mark Calcavecchia, Chip Beck and John Huston all shot 67 to finish tied for fifth. Defending champion Tom Lehman settled for a 71, leaving him in a tie for 40th.
