The impact of Hurricane Isaac Wednesday forced the postponement of the scheduled season-opening football game between Oregon State and Nicholls State. Officials from both schools said that because the players from Nicholls State could not travel as planned to Corvallis, Ore., the game will be postponed until Dec. 1. The campus of Nicholls State in Thibodaux has been closed because of the storm and most of the players are staying elsewhere. "It became apparent as the day progressed that the safety of Nicholls State's team and personnel was a primary concern," Oregon State Athletic Director Bob De Carolis said. "Many of the student-athletes and staff are with family and there is a deepening concern about their safety in returning to campus." Oregon State will now open its season against Wisconsin Sept. 8 and Nicholls State will play at South Alabama the same day.
