Dave Bolland scored two goals and added an assist for Chicago Sunday and the Blackhawks held off Phoenix 6-4. Bolland's second goal 5:50 into the final period blunted a Coyotes comeback that had seen them narrow a 5-2 deficit with a pair of quick tallies earlier in the frame. Marian Hossa also scored twice and Patrick Sharp added a goal and an assist for the Blackhawks, who notched a second straight victory to start the season. Viktor Stallberg added a tally and Ray Emery made 25 saves for Chicago. Martin Hanzal and Shane Doan scored less than a minute apart in the third period for Phoenix but the Coyotes fell to 1-1-0 on the young season. David Moss and Antoine Vermette each recorded a score. Phoenix's Mike Smith was torched for six goals on 31 shots. From : UPI
