Ian Kennedy pitched into the eighth Tuesday to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks past the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers 1-0. Kennedy (13-11) allowed four hits and struck out six in the victory, dealing the Dodgers a setback in their battle with St. Louis for a wild card playoff slot. Kennedy out-dueled Los Angeles ace Clayton Kershaw (12-9), who allowed just one unearned run. Kershaw has gotten one run or fewer from his teammates in four of his last five starts. The Diamondbacks broke a scoreless tie in the seventh when Paul Goldschmidt reached on a throwing error by Hanley Ramirez and then scored on a double by Miguel Montero. Luis Cruz had two of the Dodgers' five hits. Arizona managed four hits.
