Rory McIlroy collected his third high-profile victory in a month at the BMW Championship and strengthened his No. 1 world golf ranking. McIlroy's Sunday win followed his title at the Deutsche Bank Championship a week ago and the PGA Championship Aug. 12. That pushed his rankings points average to 12.80. Tiger Woods, who tied for fourth at the BMW, returned to the No. 2 ranking by passing Luke Donald. Woods has an average of 9.63 and Donald comes in at 9.17. There is a drop-off to Lee Westwood, whose 7.57 average places him at No. 4. Adam Scott tied for sixth at the BMW Championship and moves up one place to fifth with an average of 6.37. The next three spots -- held by Americans -- are very close. Webb Simpson slips from fifth to No. 6 at 6.11 while Jason Dufner (6.08) is seventh and Bubba Watson (6.07) comes in at No. 8. Justin Rose's average of 5.95 is worth the No. 9 place and Louis Oosthuizen, at 5.75, returned to the Top 10 at No. 10. Steve Stricker (5.72) goes from 10th 11th this week. Peter Hanson won the European Tour's KLM Open and moves from 34 to No. 23 in the updated rankings.
