Kyle Busch wins Sprint Cup pole in Arizona

Kyle Busch won the pole at Phoenix International Raceway Friday and Jimmie Johnson hit a slight bump in his bid to win the Sprint Cup title. Busch will start out front in Sunday's AdvoCare 500 after setting a qualifying record with a lap of 138.766 miles per hour. He was the last driver to make his qualifying run. Carl Edwards had held the previous mark at the one-mile track with a lap of 137.279 mph turned in last year. Busch won his second pole of the season and the 10th of his Sprint Cup career. Martin Truex Jr. qualified second, followed by Denny Hamlin, defending champion Kasey Kahne and Aric Almirola. Johnson owns a seven-point lead over Brad Keselowski with two races to go in the Sprint Cup championship race. Johnson has won the last two races in Virginia and Texas, but he qualified only 24th Friday. Keselowski will start in the 14th position. Johnson is trying for his sixth Sprint Cup championship in seven years.
