Retired figure skating star Kim Yu-Na was named Tuesday as an honorary ambassador for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, the Games organisers said.
Kim, who was part of the bidding committee promoting Pyeongchang told journalists it was an "honour" to work for the Games being hosted in her home country.
"I still vividly remember the moment Pyeongchang won the bid. I look forward to an exciting venture with the organising committee," she said.
"As an honorary ambassador, I will do my best to help raise public interest in winter sports."
Kim, 24, retired after winning individual silver at the Sochi Winter Games earlier this year. She won gold at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and at the world championships in 2009 and 2013.
