IndyCar won’t return in 2012 to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where a fiery crash claimed the life of English racer Dan Wheldon in October. The IndyCar series had been scheduled to close its 2012 season at the speedway on October 14. But officials of IndyCar and the track said on Thursday that the new IndyCar vehicle needs more testing at the venue before they race there again.“We feel we need to give our technical team ample time to conduct thorough testing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, once we complete our ongoing investigation into the 15-car accident during the October 16 race at the track,” said IndyCar chief executive Randy Bernard.Indianapolis 500 champion Wheldon died of injuries received in a 15-car crash, leaving a wife and two small children.
