McLaren's Lewis Hamilton won the United States Grand Prix here on Sunday ahead of 2012 title rivals Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso. Vettel, who started from pole but was overtaken by Hamilton on lap 42, now takes a 13-point lead over Alonso to the season-closing Brazilian Grand Prix next Sunday. The 25-year-old German, who leads the drivers standings with 273 points from Alonso on 260, is seeking to become Formula One's youngest ever triple world champion at Interlagos. Vettel's second place, despite his teammate Mark Webber being forced to retire, was sufficient to supply Red Bull with the 2012 constructors' title.
