Former baseball great Carlton Fisk was facing charges of drunken driving Tuesday after police said they arrested him in a Chicago-area cornfield. New Lenox, Ill., Deputy Chief Robert Pawlisz said the 64-year-old member of the Baseball Hall of Fame was found passed out the behind the wheel of a pickup truck that had been driven into a cornfield Monday evening, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. An open bottle of vodka was also found in the truck, Pawlisz said. The former Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox catching great was transported to a hospital by paramedics for examination, released and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage, the Sun-Times said. Fisk was released from jail after posting a $300 bond and was scheduled to appear in court Nov. 29. The newspaper said Fisk -- who lives in Bradenton, Fla. -- has owned residences in New Lenox and Lockport, Ill. The arrest came exactly 37 years after he hit his legendary home run to win Game 6 of the 1975 World Series for the Red Sox, The (Springfield, Mass.) Republican noted.
