Canberra - Arabstoday
Kiwi professional Richard Lee has climbed to a share of second place at the Token Homemate Cup on the Japan golf tour with a four under par 67 in the second round. The North Harbour player, who is back on the Japan tour after earning his card in qualifying last year, made a great start to the first event of the season to be two shots back from leader Tatsunori Nukaga of Japan. Lee, who opened with a three under par 68, made five birdies and a bogey to join a three-way tie for second. The 38-year-old is looking to have a better season in Japan in 2012 after he made only five cuts from 13 events last year, with his best performance a tie for 30th at the Toshin golf tournament in Lake Wood. David Smail, a five-time winner on the Japan golf tour, shot a one under 70 in round two to climb to 58th and sneak inside the cut line by one shot on a one over total. On the European Tour, Michael Campbell has a chance of making his first cut for 2012 at the Malaysian Masters. The 2005 US Open champion, who shot even par 72 in round one, was two under through nine holes to climb to a share of 35th place before play was suspended due to storms. Campbell has had a poor start to 2012, missing the weekend in his first six events.
