The Glendale, Ariz., City Council late Tuesday approved a 20-year lease that will help keep the Phoenix Coyotes in town. The council approved the $320 lease with prospective Coyotes buyer Greg Jamison on a 4-2 vote. The pact gives Jamison operational control of Jobing.com Arena on the condition he closes the purchase of the Coyotes before Jan. 31. If he fails to seal the deal, the lease agreement will be torn up and renegotiated with a newly elected council. NBC Sports said Tuesday's council meeting included some contentious moments. Outgoing Mayor Elaine Scruggs said Glendale voters had been "misled." "I choose to support people in other types of uniforms. Police uniforms, fire uniforms ... not Coyotes uniforms," she said.
