Jack Jewsbury and Danny Mwanga both scored their first goals of the season Tuesday to lead the Portland Timbers to a 2-1 win over San Jose. The win was Portland's fifth home win of the season and handed a rare road loss to the Earthquakes (11-4-3), who lead the MLS with six victories away from home. Portland (5-7-4) built a 2-0 lead in support of goalkeeper Troy Perkins, who turned in two saves and kept the Quakes off the scoreboard until Alan Gordon scored in the 74th minute. Mwanga, who was traded to Portland by Philadelphia last month, scored in the 29th minute and hit the goal post again in the second half. Jewsbury made it 2-0 in the 59th minute.
