Jermaine Taylor and Calen Carr scored Friday and the Houston Dynamo grabbed first place in the Eastern Conference with a 2-0 win over New York. Taylor gave the Dynamo a lead in the second minute -- the second-fastest score in Houston history -- knocking in a shot by Andre Hainault on the team's first trip down the field. Carr doubled the lead in the 28th when he leaped over defender Roy Miller to put a header just inside the far post for his fourth goal in four matches. The victory was the fifth straight for the Dynamo (11-5-7), who bypassed New York for the East's top spot with 40 points. The Red Bulls stayed at 38 points with their second straight loss.
