Lionard Pajoy scored in the 67th minute Thursday to boost D.C. United into a playoff position with a 1-0 win over Philadelphia. It was United's first road win since June 16, its last victory away from home having also come against Philadelphia. United (14-10-5) jumped into fourth place in the Eastern Conference, one point in front of Houston and two ahead of Columbus. The top five teams in each conference will qualify for the playoffs. Philadelphia (7-14-6) had its winless streak extended to eight games and remained in next-to-last place in the East. Chris Pontius created the only goal of the game when he took a pass from Maicon Santos and drew goalkeeper Zach MacMath away from the net. Pontius then sent a pass to Pajoy, who easily volleyed the ball into the net from 11 yards out.
