Sale scrum-half Chris Cusiter was among five players called up to the Scotland squad by coach Vern Cotter on Monday for this weekend's Six Nations match against Italy.
Cusiter and Exeter Chiefs prop Moray Low come in after recovering from the injuries that kept them out of the initial selection, while Edinburgh number eight David Denton returns after a calf tear suffered in last month's training camp.
Glasgow Warriors pair Adam Ashe and Alex Allan have also been added as replacements for their club team-mates Jon Welsh and Gordon Reid, who are out with hand and knee injuries respectively.
The five new call-ups joined their team-mates in training on Monday.
Scotland lost both of their opening Six Nations matches against France and Wales. They face Italy at Murrayfield on Saturday.
