Dylan Thompson replaced injured starter Connor Shaw and fired three touchdown passes Saturday, guiding No. 9 South Carolina to a 48-10 rout of East Carolina. Connor, the Gamecocks' star junior quarterback, sat out the contest with a bruised right shoulder suffered last week, but South Carolina (2-0) didn't miss a beat behind backup Thompson, who tossed for 330 yards on 21-of-37 passing. Redshirt freshman Seth Strickland also got in some time behind center, throwing a scoring strike as the Gamecocks rolled up 528 yards of total offense. Wide receiver Ace Sanders hurled a TD pass for the Gamecocks. Rio Johnson and Shane Carden who teamed up to gain 333 yards through the air for East Carolina (1-1).
