Laurence Bowers scored 20 points and Phil Pressey provided 19 more Saturday in 17th-ranked Missouri's 83-69 season-opening win over SIU-Edwardsville. Bowers hauled down seven rebounds while Pressey had five to go with his nine assists. The Tigers (1-0), whose 2011-12 season came to an end with an upset by No. 15 seed Norfolk State in last year's NCAA Tournament, put the game away with a 22-8 run over the first 7-plus minutes of the second half. The Cougars (0-1) were led by Jerome Jones with five 3-pointers on his way to 17 points.
