Kyle Wiltjer and Alex Poythress combined for 45 points Friday, pacing a hot shooting performance that brought No. 3 Kentucky a 101-49 win over Lafayette. The Wildcats played their first home game of the season and had no trouble with the Leopards while converting 64 percent of their shots from the field. Kentucky (2-1) easily bounced back from a 75-68 setback against Duke on Tuesday. Wiltjer made 7-of-11 from 3-point range and scored 23 points. Poythress was 9-of-10 from the field and his 22 points represented a career best. The Wildcats led by 20 at the break and did not let up while holding Lafayette to just 20 points during the second period. Kentucky's shooting percentage was its highest during the five-year tenure as head coach for John Calipari. Lafayette (1-2) was paced by 13 points from Tony Johnson. It was the ninth time the Leopards had played a team from the Southeastern Conference and they have lost all of them.
