Brandon Ashley scored eight points during a game-closing 15-2 run Thursday that lifted No. 12 Arizona to a 72-51 win over Texas-El Paso. The Miners moved within eight points with 7:50 to play and then managed just two points the rest of the way. Ashley had managed only one point prior to the late burst that ensured the Wildcats' win. Mark Lyons led Arizona (2-0) with 17 points and hit three of the Wildcats' nine 3-pointers. Solomon Hill added 10 points. Texas-El Paso (1-1) was credited with a mere 14 rebounds for the entire game to 33 for the Wildcats. Jacques Streeter and the Washburn brothers -- Julian and Chris -- all had 10 points for the Miners.
