Chinese Wu Yang nailed her first win in her debut World Cup table tennis tournament on Saturday evening. The 21-year-old, who plays a consistent defensive game, overcame Hong Kong veteran Jiang Huajun 11-6, 11-8, 11-5, 11-5, just after her world top-ranked teammate Liu Shiwen beat South Korea's Seok Ha-jung in straight sets. Wu was called to replace world champion Li Xiaoxia, who was forced out by a back injury. Japanese Ishikawa Kasumi, ranked ninth in the world, lost to Spain's Shen Yanfei in four sets (11-9, 11-9, 11-9, 11-8). Liu Shiwen will meet Singapore's Yu Mengyu while Wu takes on host player Hirano Sayaka on Sunday morning.
