British kick boxer faces murder charge

A 29-year-old British kick boxer, extradited to Thailand, faced a murder charge in the Asian country in the 2010 stabbing death of a former U.S. Marine. The charge against Lee Aldhouse stems from the death of 23-year-old Dashawn Longfellow, found stabbed in the chest outside his hotel on the resort island of Phuket, the New York Daily News reported. Aldhouse was extradited earlier this month. "This is the first time in 101 years that the U.K. has approved (an extradition) request," Thai Police Col. Sinard Ajhanwong was quoted as telling Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper. "Prior to this case, they had declined to send suspects back to us, so that emphasizes the significance of this case." Aldhouse was accused of stabbing the Littleton, Colo., native outside his hotel on Aug. 14, 2010, following an altercation at a nearby bar. The victim, who had served in Iraq and Afghanistan, had been studying martial arts in Thailand, the News reported. The report said his Thai girlfriend had told the local media she saw Aldhouse stab him in the chest after he followed them to their hotel. The report said four days after the incident, Thai police tracked the accused at a London airport. If found guilty, he faces life in prison, the News said.
