Mo Williams made two 3-pointers while leading a third-quarter surge Wednesday that brought Utah a 113-94 win over Dallas. The Mavericks were trying to become the first team in the NBA to win two games this season, having defeated the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday to open the campaign. Dallas built an eight-point halftime lead, but ran out of steam in the third period as the Jazz finished the quarter on a 23-6 run. Williams scored nine of his 21 points in the third quarter. Marvin Williams also had 21 points for Utah while Randy Foye and Paul Millsap both had 13. The Jazz made 31-of-42 from the foul line and dominated the backboards 60-40. Darren Collision scored 17 points for the Mavericks and Brandon Wright had 15. Dallas will play at least the first month of the season without Dirk Nowitzki, the MVP of their championship run during the 2010-2011 season.
