Josh Hamilton kept up his home run assault Friday and the Texas Rangers scored six times in a rain-disrupted first inning to defeat the Los Angeles Angels 10-3. The pregame buildup concerning the return of former Texas pitcher C.J. Wilson to Arlington was quickly deflated when a thunderstorm caused Wilson (4-3) to spend only a third of an inning on the mound. Wilson, who left Texas for the Angels in free agency this year, had already given up a run and had the bases loaded when the storm hit. He did not return after the delay and Texas went on to score six times in the inning, getting a two-run single from Nelson Cruz and a two-run triple from Craig Gentry. Hamilton hit solo homers in both the second and fourth innings, giving him eight in the last five games and 17 for the season. He leads the majors in homers, RBI (40) and batting average (.407). Texas starter Yu Darvish (5-1) stayed in the game despite the rain delay and got the win, working 5 1/3 innings. He gave up a two-run homer to Mike Trout and a solo shot to Torii Hunter, but allowed only one other hit and struck out seven. The Rangers moved to 11 games over .500, equaling their high-water mark this season. Their 22 victories are the most in the majors. Los Angeles was touted as a challenger in the American League West this season after picking up Wilson and Albert Pujols. The Angels fell eight games behind the Rangers and Pujols went 0-for-4 as his batting average fell to .192.
