Kyle Seager's two-run single capped a four-run third inning Friday that started the Seattle Mariners on their way to a 7-3 victory over Oakland. Seager, who has gotten the early-season start at third base after a hot spring, is in his second year with the Mariners after playing in 53 games last year. Chone Figgins added two RBI for Seattle, which split a pair of regular-season games with Oakland in Japan last week to open the campaign. Brendan Ryan doubled off Seattle starter Brandon McCarthy to open the third and scored when Figgins was safe at first on a throwing error by third baseman Josh Donaldson. Dustin Ackley then singled Figgins to third and Ichiro Suzuki drew a walk to load the bases. Jesus Montero drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Seager finished the big inning with his single to center. Figgins had an RBI single in the fourth and his squeeze bunt delivered another run in the sixth. Jason Vargas benefited from the early run support to get the win, allowing two runs on five hits in 5 1/3. McCarthy took the loss, surrendering five runs -- just two of them earned -- over five innings.
