Anthony Rizzo celebrated his Chicago Cubs debut by knocking in the go-ahead run in a 5-3 win over the New York Mets. Rizzo batted third after the Cubs finally confirmed one of the most anticipated call-ups of the season, and he did not disappoint going two-for-four and snapping a 3-3 tie in the fourth with an RBI double. On another disappointing day for the Mets David Wright saw his hitting streak halted at 15 games. Yu Darvish struck out 10 on his way to his 10th win of the season as the Texas Rangers beat the Detroit Tigers 7-5. Darvish was not at his best, allowing four runs in seven innings, but it was enough for the W as he got support from Ian Kinsler and Josh Hamilton, who both homered. Prince Fielder also went yard and drove in four in a losing cause for the Tigers. Bronson Arroyo took a no-hitter into the eighth before ending up with a no-decision, but the Cincinnati Reds beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 anyway. Jay Bruce's two-run shot in the sixth helped the Reds establish a 3-0 lead until Arroyo allowed three to score in the eighth, but Drew Stubbs homered to re-establish the lead and Cincinnati held on. Phil Hughes hurled eight scoreless innings and Alex Rodriguez went yard as the New York Yankees beat the Cleveland Indians 6-4. The Washington Nationals amassed 21 hits as they beat the Colorado Rockies 12-5, giving Gio Gonzalez his 10th win of the season. JD Martinez smashed his third homer in four games to help the Houston Astros beat the San Diego Padres 5-3. Yadier Molina's three-run shot highlighted a five-run first for the St Louis Cardinals, who beat the Miami Marlins 5-2. Jarrod Saltalamacchia homered to tie the game and Dustin Pedroia drove in two with the bases loaded as the Boston Red Sox rallied with a three-run seventh on their way to a 5-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Ryan Vogelsong tossed seven shutout frames to help the San Francisco Giants beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1. The Los Angeles Angels beat the Baltimore Orioles 7-3, the Chicago White Sox were 3-2 winners over the Minnesota Twins and the Philadelphia Phillies edged out the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4. The Atlanta Braves eased past the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-1, the Kansas City Royals saw off the Tampa Bay Rays 8-2 and the Seattle Mariners were 3-2 victors over the Oakland Athletics.
