Grant Balfour picked up his 21st save. The A's staff held the Rangers scoreless after the first inning. The Rangers took an early 2-0 lead on an RBI double by Josh Hamilton but Oakland scored a run in the second and tied the game in the fourth on Chris Carter's 16th home run of the season.
