Raul Ibanez went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI Sunday, powering the New York Yankees to a 6-2 victory over Seattle. Ibanez socked a solo shot in the fifth inning, putting New York up 4-2, and added a two-run single in the next frame to ice the victory for the American League East-leading Yankees. Derek Jeter added a pair of hits, including a run-scoring single, as New York took the rubber match of a three-game set. Freddy Garcia (5-5) went five innings to earn the victory, overcoming four walks. He allowed five hits and struck out two. Mariners starter Hisashi Iwakuma (2-3) gave up four runs (three earned) on seven hits over five full frames. Jesus Montero supplied a pair of run-scoring singles for Seattle.
