Martin Maldonado cracked a third-inning grand slam Tuesday and the Milwaukee Brewers held on for a 4-3 victory over San Diego. Jim Henderson (1-2), the Brewers' fifth pitcher, earned the victory with a scoreless seventh inning after the Padres had struck for a pair of runs against Manny Parra. Francisco Rodriguez tossed a scoreless eighth and John Axford survived a shaky ninth to post his 35th save to as the Brewers clinched their season-ending three-game series. San Diego's Anthony Bass (2-8) was touched for four runs on three hits in a three-inning start. Jesus Guzman, Will Venable and Yasmani Grandal drove in runs for the Padres.
